This is a reliable and safe car.
In the past 2 years the following maintenance has been completed:
Front end suspension (struts, control arms, ball joints, guide rod mounts, idler arm bushings, bearings, etc...)
4-new tires
Set of new glow plugs
Front and Rear flex discs
New Carrier Bearing
New rear hatch struts
Replaced main motor seal
New Headlights
L&R Front breaks/calipers
Tank sending unit for fuel gauge (brand new unit)
New battery
New starter
New voltage regulator
Repaired faulty plug on block heater (works perfectly now)
This is well over $4000 in parts and service costs alone.
In working condition:
headlights, high beams, turn signals, break lights, fog lights, front and rear wipers, horn, radio, heat, front and rear defroster, overhead lights, speedometer, tachometer, clock, fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, windows.
Sunroof is manual.
I changed the oil every 4 months or 3,000 miles whichever came first.
Always Bosch filters and diesel grade oil.
Also included: full spare tire and Mercedes rim, original Mercedes Tool Kit, Car Jack, Extra car radio/CD player, and other odds and ends of Mercedes car fluids and parts.
The Bad:
Air conditioning blowing warm, needs recharged.
I have noticed that the odometer stops tracking occasionally. I have a replacement instrument cluster that can fix this issue (comes with the car).
There is some rust on the exterior and around the door jams/frames.
This was a California car, with a short life in Ohio, and now Georgia. Remember, this is not a brand new car...it is 30+ years old, with signs of normal wear and tear. But it is in good condition. These cars will out live and run most of what is made in the past 20 years as long as it is maintained properly. The only reason I am selling it is due to relocation for work, otherwise I would be keeping it around.
